When to Sow Vanilla Cream French Marigold Seeds

February to April

Where to Sow

On the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover witha  fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or in a warm place and keep at a temperature between 21-25°C (70-75°F). Do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 7-21 days.

What to do Next

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12") apart in well drained soil in full sun.

Flowers

June onwards

Height

25-30cm (10-12")

Handy Tip

The scent of Marigolds is thought to deter white fly, and plants are often placed with tomatoes where this is a problem.
