Salvia Blaze of Fire

Although Salvias tend to be later than other bedding plants, it is worth the wait for their brilliant vivid scarlet, spikes of flowers and bright green foliage.
Blaze of fire is one of the most popular varieties of Salvias, not just because of their vivid colour, but because they are perfect for pollinators.

When to Sow Blaze of Fire Salvia Seeds

February to March

Where to Sow Salvias

Sow in pots or trays in a good compost under glass at 21-24°C. Cover the seeds lightly with sieved compost. Keep moist.

What to do Next

When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick off into trays 5cm (2") apart. Grow on and gradually harden off for planting in the flowering site in late May 25cm (10") apart.

Maturity

July onwards

Handy Tip

Pinch out the growing point when plants are about 10cm (4") tall to encourage branching with much more colour.
