It is a vigorous, bushy evergreen tree that produces an abundance of highly scented, white star shaped flowers and glossy green leaves. Small green fruits ripening to bright orange, usually in time for Christmas. They are often given as Christmas presents for this reason. The fruits can be eaten as an orange, can be cooked or used to make the most delicious marmalade, or use in drinks as a garnish.
It is thought to be a natural cross between a mandarin and a kumquat.
