Leather Jacket Control Nematodes (Steinernema) Treats up to 50m²

Leatherjackets feed on grass roots from September through to the following summer. They are the legless, greyish brown larvae of the cranefly (daddy long legs). They pupate in the summer and adults typically emerge in August, sometimes in huge numbers, ready to lay eggs again. The larvae weaken the lawn which can be pulled up by birds feeding on the larvae.
These microscopic transparent worms feed and multiply inside the larvae causing death.

When to treat
Use treatments between September and October for effective control or when pest is present.
A second treatment may be applied the following spring, typically between April & May (at double strength).
Apply to moist compost/soil when the soil temp is above 12°C using a watering can or nematode applicator.

How to treat
It is vital to apply to moist soil as the nematodes are unable to move in dry soils.
Mix the pack of nematodes in 2 litres of clean water, stir. Add 1 litre of your stock solution to a watering can and top up with 9 litres of tap water. Apply immediately using a watering can using the spout, or the can fitted with a coarse rose (2mm). 10 litres of solution will treat 10sqm. Repeat until all mixture is used up.

This item can only be delivered between April and October. If ordering during this time, the order will be despatched within a week. Orders placed after this time frame will be placed as a back order as despatched when available, the following April.
