Kohl Rabi Purple Delicacy Seeds

Purple Delicacy is later and hardier than its green counterpart. It has beautiful deep purple skin with white flesh, or, use when its at it's best and harvest when young. If using young as micro salad, it's a great way to add texture and visual appeal to salads. It can also be grown easily indoors in containers as a micro salad leaf.
If using as a fully matured vegetable, this alien looking vegetable is simply delicious roasted!

When to Sow Purple Delicacy Kohl Rabi Seeds

March to July

Where to Sow

Sow seeds thinly in a well prepared seed bed in shallow drills 1.5cm (1/2") deep in rows spaced 30cm apart. Alternatively sow two seeds per cell in modules under glass at 13°C. Sow seed in succession to prolong the cropping period.

What to do Next

Outdoor sowings should be thinned out to 15cm (6in) apart and grown on to maturity. As soon as glasshouse seedlings show their first pair of leaves thin modules to one seedling per cell. Gradually harden off before planting out to the same spacings as detailed above. Harvest when young from the size of a golf ball up to the size of a tennis ball.

Maturity

June onwards

Handy Tip

Makes a pleasant change as a vegetable, slice and fry gently in olive oil or use in place of turnips. Roots must be used young, between golf and tennis ball size. Sow successionally to achieve continuous crops.
